About us

Mundo de Talentos is a free vocational guidance opportunity for curious girls and boys in Chiapas, Oaxaca, and Nuevo León.

Through encounters with passionate professionals, children broaden their horizons and live unique experiences.

In a playfully and active way, we prepare our students for the most important step after their school career:

Mission

Mundo de Talentos promotes the self-discovery of interests and abilities of children and youth in order to promote personal development, critical thinking and the link with society through encounters with people who are passionate about their work.

Vision

To be a learning network made up of students, alumni, parents, guest teachers and volunteers that encourages the discovery of talents and interests of children and adolescents that motivates them to choose their own path.

Objective

Mundo de Talentos contributes to the personal and vocational development of children and adolescents in Chiapas, Oaxaca and Nuevo León by strengthening their self-esteem, improving their sense of belonging to society and by fostering their sense of gender equity, so that they can make informed decisions about their own future.

Founders

Laura has Dutch nationality and has lived in Chiapas, Mexico since 2010. She has over 15 years of experience in the field of social investigation and the defense of human rights in Nicaragua, Bolivia and Mexico.

“Mundo de Talentos was initiated in 2017 by Laura Baas and Eleni Asimakopoulos Both Laura and Eleni's conviction to help facilitate young people in the choices they make regarding career and life goals led them to launching Mundo de Talentos“

Eleni Asimakopoulos has Dutch nationality and lives and works in Chiapas since the start of Mundo de Talentos in 2019. After graduating from her Bachelor of Social Work in 2006, Eleni has stimulated young people's social and cultural development through different educational projects. She worked at IMC Weekend School for seven years in different positions.

    The overall objective of Mundo de Talentos is to contribute to the personal and vocational development of girls, boys, and adolescents in Chiapas, Oaxaca and Nuevo León. The project’s expected impact is to improve the future prospects of participating children, taking into account their self-esteem, sense of belonging, and gender equality.

    Over the past years, the results have been very positive. In our impact report, we present the results of our monitoring and evaluation system during the 2023-2024 school year, according to each program objective.

    Alumni

    After graduating from our basic program, alumni embark on an important decision-making process: their academic and professional careers.

    Through Mundo de Talentos Alumni, we offer support that provides a wide range of opportunities for continued personal and professional development. This is achieved through practical support in the form of tutoring, workshops, and/or finding internships, with the help of our extensive network of guest teachers, local companies, and organizations.

    Graduates remain part of our community by becoming ambassadors, representing and exemplifying the work of Mundo de Talentos to society.
